WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:
JMEC has evaluated feasibility of replacing an existing bridge that was identified as scour critical, functionally obsolete and substandard. JMEC designed the new prefabricated steel truss bridge that was located upstream with a span of 103' such that the bridge is outside the influence of the San Ramon Creek.
JMEC provided construction design support services and modified the abutment details when it was discovered that the abutment was built further apart to accommodate the new bridge. The bridge was transported in two pieces and spliced at mid-span on-site before lifting into its final position.
To maintain continuous pedestrian access, the existing scour critical bridge was kept in service until the new bridge was completed.
